Swimming Lessons

This year I finally put the kids in swimming lessons. I have been wanting to do it for a couple of summers now but never got around to registering them. With our cruise coming up in October, I thought I better get them in a couple of sessions. Their first session just got over. They went July 9th through the 19th, 4 times a week. They absolutely LOVED it and can't wait to do their next session in September. I was really happy Emma liked it and wanted to go back. She is our scaredy cat and has never really enjoyed the water.

Joey's class

Joey practicing his back glide

Practicing kicking

Emma's class. Before they could get in the water they had to ask, "May I please get in the water?" Then they each had a turn to jump in

They both loved swimming with the noodles

Emma's class having a race to see who could float the longest on their bellies

I loved it when they played ring around the rosie and then all dunked in the water

Joey practicing his side float

Emma's class practicing kicking

Practicing her front float

and her back float

On the last day of class, they all got to go down the huge inner tube slide. Joey had a blast!

Emma on the other hand did not :( She finally got enough courage to go down with her teacher and hit her head coming down. She cried the whole way down and for quite awhile after. It shook her up pretty bad. It's a bummer. She was trying to be so brave!

Joey advanced to level 3 and Emma will be taking level 1 again. She did really well, better then I thought she would, she just needs to be able to do more things on her own and not with the help of her teacher.
