October Happenings

Wednesday, October 22rd, we went to a homeschooling field trip. We went to the La Brea Tar Pits. I didn't realize that California had such a large area where animals got stuck in tar. They recently discovered the remains of a mammoth while trying to construct a parking garage.

What I liked most about this place was that they were all real bones that they had found. A lot of the museums these days make replicas of the bones they find and display them. I think it is a lot more cool seeing the actual bones.

That night we carved and painted the pumpkins we had gotten in Utah at the pumpkin patch.

Mike painted Myra's pumpkin. He painted one side batman and the other superman

And still had time to photo bomb us

We also had pumpkin brownies and ghostly s'more brownies. Yum!

On Friday, October 24th, our ward had a chili cook off and truck or treat. My chili didn't win but it is always fun to try so many different kinds of chili.

After dinner, the kids walked around and did a "parade" to show everyone their costumes
